Konch Magazine - Songbird Among Vultures by Elly Russell

My only struggle in life is being a songbird among vultures.
They scavenge, I forage.
They screech, breath scented with rot.
I sing.
Sad song sweet like berries, laced with poison.
I can continue.
You are what you eat.
Only adapting the negative aspects.
You are a stubborn ass,
You are a heartless predator,
You are an angry bull,
You are an apathetic fox,
You are a following sheep,
A cowering chicken,
A dirty animal.
Well let you be skinned and devoured by me,
their protector.
